Bayer Crop Science introduces new-generation calcium fertilizer to the Chinese market
Bayer Crop Science launched the new water-soluble calcium fertilizer product Wojiarun at an event in Hangzhou, China. According to the company, it introduces an advanced formulation and purity level to the market.
As agricultural practices evolve toward modernization, the demand for specialized crop health products has intensified, driven by farmers’ needs that go beyond traditional crop protection. This shift has birthed a burgeoning $1.43 billion crop health market in China, providing Bayer with substantial opportunities to cater to local agricultural demands.
The company is also preparing to launch its crop health brand Delai later this year, which will feature a range of products, including nutritional fertilizers, biostimulants, and microbial agents, with Wojiarun being a key offering in the nutritional fertilizer segment.
Wojiarun is a new-generation product that upgrades Bayer’s earlier calcium fertilizers, featuring enhanced solubility and stability. The calcium in Wojiarun is complexed and chelated, making it easier to use and more effective at lower temperatures without the risk of crystallization. After dilution, it remains stable and well-mixed, suitable for various application scenarios.
Wojiarun boasts a high calcium content of 176 g/L and includes 170 g/L of nitrogen, providing both ammonium and nitrate forms. Additionally, it contains between 3 g/L and 6 g/L of essential trace elements such as copper, iron, manganese, zinc, and boron, marking a significant improvement over previous formulations.
Bayer Crop Science anticipates that Wojiarun will lead its 2025 innovative product series, aiming to deliver high-quality, reliable crop solutions to the Chinese market.
