CHS consolidates with West Central Ag Services to launch new ag retail business unit
Farmer-owned U.S. cooperative CHS completed the acquisition of West Central Ag Services. The merger introduces a newly established ag retail business unit named CHS West Central, based in Ulen, Minnesota.
This strategic acquisition promises to enhance connections between producers and the global supply chain, delivering increased value to their producer-owners. CHS West Central will maintain all existing service locations, ensuring continuity in grain and agronomy services for local farmers.
All employees of West Central Ag Services have been retained, with offers of employment from CHS, preserving the local management structure. The governance will also remain local, with the existing producer board continuing to oversee operations.
The integration strengthens CHS’s presence in the region following the transition of Central Plains Ag Services—a previous 50-50 joint venture with West Central Ag Services based in Hannaford, North Dakota—into a wholly-owned entity of CHS.
In related news, CHS has been actively expanding its services, including a new exclusive agreement with Ingram Barge Company for fertilizer transportation and robust financial performance with a net income of $244.8 million for the first quarter of 2025, indicating strong market conditions.
