ATANOR launches new herbicide compatibility tool in Argentina
ATANOR, an Albaugh Group affiliate, has unveiled a new tool designed to address the challenges of herbicide incompatibility in Argentina. Named the “ATANOR Mix Compatibility,” the innovation is part of the broader ATANOR PRO program. Newly introduced tool is integrated within the WhatsApp Business messaging platform, enabling users to assess the compatibility of various ATANOR brand agrochemicals before mixing in the spray tank. The company emphasizes that this solution allows farmers to proactively determine the compatibility of herbicides, thus anticipating and addressing potential issues to ensure effective application.
The necessity for such a tool has grown in importance as weed control becomes increasingly complex. According to ATANOR, the emergence of weed biotypes resistant to multiple herbicides necessitates the use of two or more products simultaneously to manage all present weeds effectively.
However, mixing different herbicides can lead to incompatibility, resulting in ineffective mixtures that may clog spray nozzles or lead to uneven product application. Such challenges not only hinder agricultural operations but also have considerable economic, logistical, and environmental repercussions. The unsuccessful mixes require disposal, additional clean-up of equipment, and the repurchase of products, adding to farmers’ burdens.
ATANOR’s initiative to develop the Mix Compatibility tool was driven by an internal analysis backed by local weed control experts, focusing on major Argentine crops like soybeans, corn, sunflower, and wheat. The analysis culminated in a comprehensive library of active ingredient combinations tailored to combat resistant weed species across various regions.
