French agriculture is at risk according to local farmer’s association
The French National Federation of Agricultural Holders (FNSEA) has released alarming data suggesting a bleak outlook for the nation’s agricultural sector. The report indicates that more than half of French farmers have faced significant challenges in the past three months alone, with 37% anticipating even more severe economic difficulties in the coming years.
Research conducted by the FNSEA forecasts that within the next 12 months, one in every five farmers in France will cease operations. The primary reasons cited for this drastic reduction include retirement and severe financial hardships. Additionally, the study highlights widespread support among French farmers for the agricultural protests that occurred last winter, with 71% backing the movements. This statistic underscores the growing discontent and instability within the agricultural community as they grapple with both economic pressures and policy challenges.
