Corteva unveils Broadway Ultra herbicide for 2025 season
Corteva Agriscience is set to launch Broadway Ultra herbicide in spring 2025, designed for wheat and triticale growers in the UK and Ireland. The product builds on the success of Broadway Star, a trusted solution for early-season weed control over the past 14 years.
Broadway Ultra combines two active ingredients—pyroxsulam and mesosulfuron-methyl—into a single formulation. This new combination is expected to offer a broader spectrum of weed control, addressing both grass and broad-leaved species with a single application. The herbicide is particularly targeted at farmers managing lighter soils where meadow grass and broad-leaved weeds are prevalent.
The product’s label includes a variety of weed species, such as ryegrass, brome, tame oats, wild oats, and loose silky bent, as well as hard-to-control broad-leaved weeds like cleavers, speedwells, mayweed, and volunteer oilseed rape. Corteva’s trials have shown that Broadway Ultra performs comparably to other mesosulfuron-based herbicides in controlling ryegrass and brome.
Growers can apply the product from January 1 through mid-May, but it is not intended for autumn use. Broadway Ultra is compatible with Zypar and a range of other ALS herbicides, offering flexibility in weed management. The recommended application rate is 100g per hectare, with a 5m reducible buffer zone.
Corteva expects the herbicide to be particularly useful for growers with traditional crop rotations and those facing challenges with persistent weeds, offering a timely solution for the spring herbicide season. With its latest innovation, Corteva continues to support the agricultural industry’s evolving needs.
