Sound Agriculture raises $25M for its microbial solution that unlocks nitrogen and phosphorus for plants
A rapidly growing AgTech startup, Sound Agriculture, has successfully completed a $25 million extension of its Series D funding round. New financing, co-led by the BMO Impact Investment Fund and S2G Ventures, aims to propel the company towards profitability and bolster the launch of its bioinspired nutrient efficiency solutions. These solutions are designed to support healthier soils, thriving crops, and climate-friendly farming practices.
The company is advancing agricultural practices with two innovative products: SOURCE, a patented signaling chemistry, and BLUEPRINT, a premium solution infused with high-quality arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF). Having expanded its reach to 2 million acres across the U.S. within just four years, Sound Agriculture is now looking to scale its offerings both geographically and through new product introductions.
Sound Agriculture’s research enables to synergize products that deliver crucial nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus more effectively while also reducing environmental impact. Startup’s focus remains on enhancing the rootzone ecosystem through a robust product portfolio. The company’s flagship product, SOURCE, is particularly noted for activating beneficial soil microbes that help unlock essential nutrients. Meanwhile, BLUEPRINT utilizes AMF to enhance nutrient and water uptake by crops.
This year, Sound Agriculture is also rolling out the Efficient Acre Incentive. This new program aims to mitigate financial risks for growers using SOURCE as an alternative to synthetic fertilizers. Participating growers can replace 25 pounds of nitrogen or phosphorus with SOURCE to earn up to $10 per acre, along with guaranteed yield protection that offers up to $100 per acre in cash back.
