Syngenta and xFarm use AI to revolutionize French farming
In the face of evolving environmental challenges and stringent agricultural regulations, Syngenta France has teamed up with xFarm Technologies to provide French farmers with advanced digital solutions. This collaboration aims to improve compliance with phytosanitary product application requirements, particularly when non-target crops are in close proximity—a critical issue in modern farming.
At the heart of this partnership is Quali’Cible, Syngenta France’s decision support system (DSS), designed to guide farmers in applying crop protection products with precision. As regulatory landscapes grow more complex, tools like Quali’Cible play a vital role in ensuring both compliance and sustainability. Through this initiative, xFarm Technologies contributes its expertise in geospatial artificial intelligence (AI), significantly enhancing Quali’Cible’s capabilities.
xFarm Technologies, a leader in agricultural digitalization, supports over 450,000 farms across more than 100 countries through its comprehensive farm management platform. Leveraging advanced satellite imagery and geospatial AI, the company has already mapped France’s entire agricultural area—approximately 25 million hectares. This technology enables the detection of non-target crops, such as sorghum, millet, buckwheat, and chia, ensuring that farmers receive precise, field-specific guidance.
François-Xavier Bauer, Stewardship and Sustainable Farming Lead at Syngenta France, noted that Quali’Cible exemplifies the company’s dedication to sustainable agriculture, enhanced by the integration of xFarm Technologies’ geospatial tools. Sami Yacoubi, Head of Geospatial AI at xFarm Technologies, added that the partnership highlights how digital innovation can streamline farming practices while advancing environmental sustainability.
For French farmers, the enhanced Quali’Cible tool promises improved precision, regulatory compliance, and environmental sustainability, setting a new standard for modern farming solutions.
This initiative builds on Syngenta France’s reputation as a major innovator in agri-science and xFarm Technologies’ growing influence in the European agri-tech sector. The latter has recently expanded its portfolio through strategic acquisitions, including Greenfield Technologies in Spain and SpaceSense in France, and has secured €36 million (more than $38 million) in Series C funding to scale its operations.
In addition to its collaboration with Syngenta France, xFarm Technologies has partnered with global entities such as Viterra to advance regenerative and low-carbon farming practices, aligning innovation with ecological stewardship.
