New Pakistani program invites 1,000 agriculture grads to get advanced training in China
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a new initiative that will send 1,000 agriculture graduates to China to gain advanced training and education in the agricultural sector. This program is part of a broader effort to build the capacity of Pakistan’s agricultural professionals and improve the nation’s food security.
Under the scholarship program, Pakistani students will have the opportunity to learn about modern agricultural practices, including the use of innovative technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in farming. The focus will also be on high-level technical skills, research, seed production, livestock disease surveillance, and aquaculture, among other areas.
The selection of students for this program will be nationwide, with a particular emphasis on candidates from Balochistan. The program will be managed by the Confucius Institute at Agriculture University Faisalabad and executed in phases lasting between three to six months.
The decision to send graduates to China follows Prime Minister Sharif’s visit to several top agricultural universities and research institutes in China, where he observed advanced farming technologies and practices. This move aims to replicate successful models and techniques in Pakistan, particularly in areas that are critical to enhancing agricultural output and sustainability.
