Avgust is creating the largest artificial climate complex in Russia
In a significant development at its cutting-edge environmental control facility at the August Research Center center in Chernogolovka near Moscow, August Company has commenced the installation of advanced artificial climate units, known as phytotrons. These installations are integral to the new infrastructure aimed at fostering plant growth under controlled environmental conditions. The equipment, tailor-made for August by industry leaders, incorporates globally proven solutions for developing plant cultivation complexes.
The phytotrons will become central to the technical equipment of the biological cluster, including the “Biotron” laboratory-testing complex. Their use is expected to dramatically enhance the quality and scale of research, accelerating the pace and intensity of scientific experiments. This advancement opens doors to pioneering innovations in plant protection technologies and the development of related sectors.
The project outlines the installation of 20 phytotron cabinets and 30 phytotron rooms, covering a total area of about 3,000 square meters. Among the most technically sophisticated and scientifically intensive features are the eight room-type phytotrons on the second floor of the “Biotron.” These are equipped with a combination of natural sunlight and supplemental lighting from phyto-lamps in both visible and UV ranges, facilitating year-round experiments in a controlled environment closely mimicking field conditions. This initiative is unique in Russia for domestic research entities focused on plant protection, marking a novel achievement by the August Scientific Research Center.
