Former NIIK director detained in Moscow
Igor Esin, the former General Director of NIIK, a large Russian engineering company, has been detained by police officers in Moscow, Russia, on charges of fraud and money laundering. Authorities also suspect that Esin is linked to the case of Rinat Khanbikov, the former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ammonium, who faces similar charges.
Esin has denied all allegations against him. His defense attorney requested that Esin should be released on bail or confined to house arrest. However, the Basmanny District Court in Moscow sided with the prosecution, led by the General Prosecutor’s Office, ruling that Esin posed a flight risk and could potentially destroy evidence if not detained. Consequently, Igor Esin will remain in custody until December 7.
