Telenor Pakistan and Crop2X partner to provide extensive crop monitoring for local farmers
On October 21, Telenor Pakistan and Crop2X entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance agricultural productivity using advanced crop monitoring technologies. This collaboration is set to transform farming practices by integrating data science and smart technology to potentially double crop yields.
The partnership will combine the expertise of data scientists, software developers, hardware engineers, and agronomists to help farmers improve soil quality, manage resources more effectively, and mitigate pest risks. These efforts are expected to tackle some of the most pressing challenges in agriculture and foster sustainable development in Pakistan’s farming sector.
The MoU was signed by Areej Khan, Chief People Officer of Telenor Pakistan, and Ayesha Alam Khurram, CEO of Crop2X, at Telenor’s Islamabad campus, witnessed by notable figures from both organizations. This initiative will make Crop2X’s innovative solutions available through Telenor Pakistan’s digital platforms, including the ‘My Telenor App’ and the mAgri Platform, potentially reaching over 20 million users.
Areej Khan emphasized the transformative potential of digital technology in agriculture, stating that the partnership would equip farmers with necessary tools and insights for modern, sustainable farming. Ayesha Alam Khurram expressed enthusiasm about leveraging Telenor’s extensive digital outreach to bring smarter, more efficient farming methods to a broader audience.
This strategic alliance not only demonstrates Telenor Pakistan’s commitment to digital innovation but also marks a significant step toward a technology-driven agricultural future, promoting economic growth and environmental sustainability in the region.
