Ammpower and FuelCell Energy partner to enhance clean ammonia production
Ammpower has embarked on a strategic partnership with FuelCell Energy, focusing on the enhancement of clean ammonia production, a crucial component in global agriculture and food security. This collaboration involves integrating Ammpower’s modular ammonia production units with FuelCell Energy’s high-efficiency solid oxide electrolyzer systems, promising significant advancements in ammonia production technology.
Ammonia production is pivotal in fertilizer manufacturing, essential for enhancing agricultural productivity worldwide. The partnership is set to pilot distributed ammonia production, potentially transforming energy efficiency standards in the industry. Ammpower’s innovative machine is designed to produce up to four metric tonnes of carbon-free ammonia daily, utilizing renewable energy sources. This system, combined with FuelCell Energy’s electrolyzer that boasts up to 100% efficiency with heat integration, aims to reduce overall energy consumption by more than 25% compared to traditional methods.
Located in Toronto, Ontario, with additional facilities in Michigan, Ammpower is actively engaged in the development and application of green technologies aimed at reducing the environmental footprint of hydrogen feedstock and fuel production, continuing its commitment to innovation in green energy solutions.
