Shchelkovo Agrokhim expands its product range in Egypt
Egyptian agrarians have been exploring technologies developed by ‘Shchelkovo Agrokhim’ at the company’s experimental farms in the Oryol region of Russia during the scientific conference titled “Expanding the Boundaries of the Possible”.
A large group of Egyptian agrarians, led by Shchelkovo Agrokhim’s representative in the country, Mr. Zakaria, attended the event. Five hybrids from “SoyuzSemSvekla” – Storm, Volcano, Element, Wave, and Tide—are registered in Egypt, and three more hybrids are currently undergoing the registration process.
Despite challenging climatic conditions this year, with temperatures in southern Egypt reaching up to +52°C—a level not seen in half a century—the Element hybrid yielded an impressive 165 tons per hectare. In central Egypt, the yield was 148.2 tons per hectare.
Additionally, Egyptian agrarians shared results from an experiment conducted in central Egypt. In the test, two European sugar beet hybrids and one Shchelkovo Agrokhim hybrid were planted under identical care and treatment conditions. The Shchelkovo Agrokhim hybrid proved more resistant to rhizomania and nematodes, yielding 20 tons more per hectare than its European counterparts.
Shchelkovo Agrokhim’s sunflower seeds, tested across Egypt, yielded productivity and oil content results that convinced major investors to sign commercial agreements for the purchase of company’s seeds. The Bingo soybean variety also performed successfully in Egypt.
At Betagran Seeds, conference participants harvested a new, yet-to-be-registered soybean variety, SamETS, which yielded an impressive 42 quintals per hectare. The field results of the latest breeding achievements by Shchelkovo Agrokhim, set against the use of in-house manufactured protective agents, once again prove that these products are of a global standard.
