BASF confirms continued operations in Russia and Belarus
In response to recent reports in Russian media suggesting that BASF is ceasing all operations in Russia and Belarus except for food additive production, the company has issued a statement clarifying its position.
“According to the decision made by BASF’s Board of Directors in April 2022, the company continues to operate its business units in Russia and Belarus that are related to global food security and food production. This includes the production and sale of crop protection products and agricultural seeds. We reaffirm our commitment to our long-standing partners and customers,” BASF representatives stated.
Additionally, BASF announced that the sale of its 100% stake in “BASF Vostok LLC,” approved by Russian Presidential Decree No. 133-rp on May 7, 2024, is part of the ongoing process of winding down BASF’s non-food-related business activities in Russia.
