CMEC expresses willingness to build potash plant in Ethiopia
The China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) has signaled that it would be willing to build a potash fertilizer factory in Ethiopia, state-run media in the East African country reported on Thursday.
FBC wrote that Ethiopia’s ambassador to China, Teferra Derbew, discussed the idea with the corporation’s executives during a meeting at the Ethiopian embassy in Beijing.
According to the outlet, the ambassador told his interlocutors that CMEC’s investment would help to overcome problems in Ethiopia’s agricultural sector and enable the country to move towards food self-sufficiency.
FBC added that the Ethiopian representative promised to provide the company with all the support it needs in order to initiate the project.
