PhosAgro will fight for the conservation of water resources
PhosAgro, one of the world’s leading producers of phosphorus fertilizers, supported the Open Call of Business for the conservation of water resources under the UN program.
This initiative of more than 50 leading world companies was presented at the end of March within the framework of the UN Conference on Water Resources. The open call was prepared under the auspices of the UN Global Compact platform Water Resilience Coalition in conjunction with the CEO Water Mandate Charter. PhosAgro is the only Russian participant in an initiative aimed at achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goal No. 6 “Ensuring the availability and rational use of water and sanitation for all.”
By joining the Open Call for Water Conservation, companies are committing to work to improve water sustainability across their operations and supply chains. The strategy aims to provide safe water resources to 3 billion people.
PhosAgro joined the CEO Water Mandate Charter and the Water Resilience Coalition platform of the UN Global Compact in 2021. The company is also a member of the Climate Ambition Accelerator platform. In December 2022, during the UN Climate Change Conference, PhosAgro joined the Business Declaration for Climate Resilient Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), prepared by the Water Resilience Coalition. For its commitment to the principles of responsible business conduct, PhosAgro was awarded the status of a Global Compact Leading Company. At the moment, only 37 leading global companies have this status.
The issues of resource conservation, including respect for water resources, as well as energy efficiency, reducing environmental impact, and combating climate change, are an integral part of PhosAgro’s long-term development strategy.
