Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline may be restarted soon
It might be possible to conclude an agreement on the renewal of Russian ammonia through a pipeline through Ukraine to the port of Odessa soon, said Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths.
“I think we are close to this agreement. It may happen this week. I believe both sides and the UN are aware of the importance of this pipeline. It’s almost more important than grain exports,” Martin Griffiths said.
According to his statement, it’s possible to start exporting ammonia from Russia within one to two weeks, since all the details of this operation are “well known”.
The Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline has been idle since February this year. It can pump up to 2.5 million tons of ammonia per year.
