Bangladesh considers buying two fertilizer plants in Uzbekistan
The government of Bangladesh has received an offer from the authorities of Uzbekistan to buy two enterprises for the production of mineral fertilizers.
“We have been offered to purchase two factories and produce mineral fertilizers there but only under certain conditions,” said Bangladesh Ambassador to Uzbekistan Zahangir Alam.
The demand for mineral fertilizers in Bangladesh is 5.5 million tons per year and is mainly met by imports from Morocco and the Middle East. At the same time, Bangladesh produces only 1.1 million tons of mineral fertilizers per year.
“Perhaps they consider the purchase of Farg’onaazot enterprise and the Dehkanabad potash plant, which the government of Uzbekistan had previously planned for privatization,” commented the information and analytical service of Fertilizer Daily.
