Achema plans to cut 5% of its workforce
Lithuanian producer of nitrogen fertilizers, Achema, plans to fire 5% of its employees, or 31 people. Currently, Achema’s workforce has almost 1,240 employees.
Previously, Achema completely stopped its operations due to the rise in the price of natural gas, and before that it operated at a partial load.
“With the current situation in the energy market, most of the Western fertilizer producers have stopped. Achema is no exception,” said Achema CEO Ramūnas Miliauskas.
Achema is the only company in Lithuania that produces nitrogen fertilizers – carbamide, ammonium and calcium ammonium nitrate. At the same time, it’s the largest consumer of natural gas in the country.
