Winter sowing started in the Altai region
Farmers of the Altai region began sowing winter crops. According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Altai region, they are fully provided with seeds.
At the same time, according to the results of 2022, the harvest of grain and leguminous crops in the Altai region is expected to reach 4.5 million tons.
“We will not reach the yield of the last year, because such historically high results were only twice in a century and last year was the second time. But this year we expect the harvest of grain and leguminous crops to be 4.5 million tons or a little higher,” said Sergey Mezhin, Minister of Agriculture of the Altai region.
Altai is the region with the largest arable land in Russia, which can reach 6.5 million hectares. In 2021, it was 5.2 million hectares, in 2022 it increased to 5.3 million hectares.
