German K+S Group has signed an agreement with the Swedish company Cinis Fertilizer to jointly implement an investment project to construct a potassium sulfate production. According to the agreement, K+S Group will provide Cinis Fertilizer with potassium chloride, purchasing up to 600 thousand tons of potassium sulfate per year in exchange.
“This document perfectly fits our new corporate strategy, which provides for expansion of our business,” said Burkhard Lohr, Chairman of the Board of Directors of K+S Group.
Cinis Fertilizer plans to produce potassium sulfate using the so-called Glaserite process at several sites. Besides potassium chloride, waste from battery and pulp and paper production will be used as raw materials.
