New ammonium plant may be built in Uzbekistan
The Cyprus-based company Ferkensco Management has found a general contractor for the design and construction works of an ammonia and carbamide plant located in the city of Yangiyer (Uzbekistan). Total investments in the project are estimated at $500 million.
The plant is expected to produce up to 495 thousand tons of ammonia and 594 thousand tons of granulated carbamide per year. Its commissioning is scheduled for the first half of 2025, and the new plant should provide over 500 jobs.
In 2020, the government of Uzbekistan transferred to Ferkensco Management a 100% stake in Samarkandkimyo, producing NPK-fertilizers. In 2021, Ferkensco Management and Gazprombank signed an agreement on the creation of enterprises for the extraction and processing of phosphorites and the production of phosphorus and complex fertilizers.
