North Ossetia prepares for the spring sowing campaign
Agricultural enterprises and farmers of North Ossetia are preparing for spring field works. As the press-service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the republic reports, during the period, it’s planned to sow spring crops on an area of 136.5 thousand hectares.
The region is currently purchasing mineral fertilizers, preparing seed materials and repairing agricultural equipment. Farmers of North Ossetia need about 38.3 thousand tons of mineral fertilizers for spring fieldwork this year.
Earlier, winter crops were sown on an area of 44.7 thousand hectares, of which 26.9 thousand hectares were wheat, 14.9 thousand hectares were rapeseed and 2.8 thousand hectares were barley. According to the monitoring results, the condition of 56.3% of winter crops is assessed as good and 42% as satisfactory.
