Belaruskali may be supported by the Indian companies
Entrepreneurs and officials of India are considering the purchase of a million tons of potassium chloride from Belaruskali in circumvention of sanctions imposed against the company by the US authorities last year.
In their opinion, Belarusian Potash Company (BPC, trader of Belaruskali) should open an account in rupees in one of the state-owned banks in India, since transactions in dollars or euros are not possible due to sanctions.
“We can’t pay neither in dollars nor in euros. Nevertheless, we need potassium chloride and are looking for alternative ways to make payments,” said a government official involved in the negotiations.
According to the forecast of Fertilizer Daily, a potential buyer of the potassium chloride produced by Belaruskali could be its trading partner Indian Potash, or some other companies, such as Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative.
