PhosAgro receives a green certificate
PhosAgro has become the first company in the Russian fertilizer industry that proved the compliance of its products with the Vitality Leaf ecolabel.
Mineral fertilizers that meet this standard are a necessary tool for sustainable agriculture, as they are among the intensive methods that at the same time preserve the environment.
The turning points in the life cycle of fertilizers, including the extraction of raw materials, are being carefully studied. Therefore, besides the plants for the output of mineral fertilizers, the experts also checked the complex for the extraction and enrichment of phosphate raw materials — the Kirov branch of Apatit (part of PhosAgro). They noted that at the stage of extraction of raw materials the company applies the best available technologies and constantly improves the working conditions of its employees.
Mineral fertilizers of PhosAgro do not contain dangerous concentrations of heavy metals: cadmium, chromium, mercury, nickel and other substances that can harm nature and human health. This complies with the requirements of the Vitality Leaf ecolabel.
“The certification of our enterprises following the Vitality Leaf ecolabel confirms the unique eco-efficiency of PhosAgro mineral fertilizers and our commitment to sustainable development, environmental protection, and soil protection and restoration. The ecolabel will provide the consumer with the opportunity to make a conscious choice in favor of environmentally preferred products, the quality of which has been confirmed at the international level. As follows from the long-term development strategy of PhosAgro, aspects of environmental safety and ESG principles are the company’s main priorities,” said PhosAgro CEO Andrey Guryev.
