Yara stops purchasing from Belaruskali
Norwegian producer of mineral fertilizers Yara International (hereinafter Yara) suspends the import of potassium chloride from Belarus due to the sanctions imposed on Belaruskali and Belarusian Potash Company (BPC) by the US authorities.
“The impact of sanctions is forcing Yara to stop purchasing potassium chloride in Belarus,” the press-release of Yara says. “The supplies are expected to be suspended by April 1, 2022. Yara will monitor any changes, including sanctions, as part of its ongoing sourcing operations.”
Earlier, Fertilizer Daily predicted the possibility of Yara refusing potassium chloride and other potassium fertilizers from Belaruskali and BPC. Russian manufacturers, for example, EuroChem, can be considered as alternative suppliers.
