Russian farmers may get fertilizers with a 5% discount
As Deputy Prime Minister Viktoria Abramchenko reported during the meeting on stabilizing prices for agrochemicals, Russian producers of mineral fertilizers are ready to provide domestic farmers with a 5% discount.
“The decrease in the use of mineral fertilizers directly affects agricultural production. Ministries and the business agreed that farmers should be stimulated to apply mineral fertilizers. As a short-term measure, mineral fertilizer producers are ready to fix prices for the current agricultural year. To increase the availability of fertilizers, they have additionally proposed a 5% discount to domestic farmers. Absolute priority is given to the saturation of the domestic market with affordable goods. Russian consumers should not suffer from price fluctuations and world market conditions,” said Viktoria Abramchenko.
Following the meeting, the Ministries of Agriculture, Economic Development, Industry and Trade of Russia, and Federal Antimonopoly Service together with mineral fertilizer producers have a week to determine the details of voluntary price fixing for specific consumption volumes in the current agricultural year. They should also analyze and propose long-term mechanisms for maintaining the availability of mineral fertilizers.
