Russian Government continues to supervise fertilizer prices

The Russian government will continue to control the issue of prices for mineral fertilizers and doesn’t exclude the possibility of revising agreements between their producers and farmers, said Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko.
“Our task is to control this issue since it’s very sensitive for agriculture, as well as the growth of other costs. All expenses of the farmers ultimately fall on the cost of production. It’s impossible to keep prices down only on the shelf or separately from agricultural producers or processors. All costs need to be assessed,” she reported at the 24th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
Earlier, the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia announced its intention to apply to the government regarding the prices for mineral fertilizers. The Ministry expressed concern about their growth since the beginning of the year and even suggested fixing prices on the eve of the sowing season.
