Yara decided to capitalize on climate change
Norwegian producer of mineral fertilizers Yara International (hereinafter Yara) announced the launch of a new business unit Agoro Carbon Alliance, created to help farmers generate additional income from a successful implementation of measures to fight against global warming.
Applying climate-friendly agricultural practices, farmers will be able to produce environmentally-friendly certified crops and help to decarbonize the food supply chain.
Agoro Carbon Alliance will provide them with practical support to successfully capture soil carbon and reduce emissions from fields. This, in turn, will allow them to trade carbon quota and, therefore, increase their earnings.
“Creating Agoro Carbon Alliance we want to build a new global business that takes into account Yara’s unique market position in choosing partners with the most climate-friendly food,” said Terje Knutsen, Vice-President of Yara.
