Russian farmers may purchase 4 mln. tons of mineral fertilizers this year
The First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Russia Dzhambulat Khatuov held a meeting related to the acquisition of mineral fertilizers and increasing their use for 2020-2025.
During the meeting, he noted that the use of mineral fertilizers is one of the main factors for increasing soil fertility. From January 1 to September 14, farmers purchased 3.15 million tons of mineral fertilizers, which is 11% (350 thousand tons) more than for the same period of 2019. Accumulated resources (including the leftovers) amount to 3.3 million tons.
This year, the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia predicts the purchase of mineral fertilizers of 4 million tons, which is 14% more than last year (3.5 million tons). It will allow the farmers to apply 52-53 kg of mineral fertilizers per hectare of the sown area on average throughout the country. The government supports the applying of mineral fertilizers, therefore, stimulating agricultural producers to increase soil productivity and crop yield.
