Ukraine farmers protested against imposed quotas
A farmer’s protest rally was held near the government building of Ukraine. Protesters demanded to reject the proposal of the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine on the introduction of quotas for the import of nitrogen fertilizers.
In their opinion, quotas will lead to the monopolization of the domestic market by Ostchem, which owns several plants for nitrogen fertilizer production. As a result, the fertilizer prices will rise as well as the prices for food in the country.
Earlier, Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine Taras Kachka posted on Facebook that their department is considering the introduction of quotas for the import of nitrogen and complex fertilizers.
