Debts as an obstacle to privatization of the Odessa Port Plant
The large debts of the Odessa Port Plant make it difficult to attract investors to its privatization, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“A great many of investors know and remember the Odessa Port Plant. They say that they could go to the Odessa Port Plant, pay money, save jobs, upgrade technical operations, but all of them wonder, what to do with the debts? And they say that the debts are a problem of Ukraine and our government. Nobody wants to clear the debts as of yet,” he said.
The Odessa Port Plant is one of the most powerful chemical enterprises in Ukraine. It can produce more than 1 million tons of ammonia and 600 thousand tons of urea per year.
