Dmitry Mazepin, the Chairman of Board of Directors of Uralchem and the Deputy Chairman of Board of Directors of Uralkali, took part in the Russia – Africa Business Council meeting under the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
The meeting was chaired by the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov. The event was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Mikhail Bogdanov, Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Alexey Gruzdev, and by representatives of non-governmental organizations and big business.
The meeting revolved around the development of economic relations between Russia and Africa. The participants discussed the industrial and commercial cooperation, export and nuclear power engineering in Africa, spoke about the challenges and opportunities for non-resource-based projects of Russian companies in the African market.
‘The food situation in Africa is the most vulnerable spot in the system of international economic security. Proper political, economic and investment conditions should be secured to boost its successful development. Uralchem and Uralkali view themselves not only as fertilizers supplier, but also as participants in the transfer of technologies required for creating and maintaining agricultural projects in African countries. We are planning to develop educational projects together with African agronomical educational institutions in order to train local farmers in precision agriculture and to introduce modern plant feeding systems,’ commented Dmitry Mazepin.
